Brassed Off, a film and then some. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Pete Postlethwaite played Danny. Ironically playing a dying man who is a conductor of a colliery’s brass band.
A great British actor who will be missed in a big way. R.I.P.
The film centered on Grimley, South Yorkshire last of the great mining collieries.
The film also highlighted the fact that 140 pit closures were made with a quarter of a million job losses. It was 10 years after the great mining strikes that saw the end of the union’s grip on the country, but at what cost? Cities, communities, families all broken up and left desperate.
They played Danny Boy and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. …and that scene at the end at the Albert Hall …. Wow!
I’ve heard it, hell I’ve even said it that I don’t judge anyone. But I guess I do.
I just read a profile where she used the word I without capitalizing it throughout her journal entry.
I just wanted to hang her. Yep I guess she was judged as I kept thinking how lazy she was and it distracted me from what was written.
So the engineer came at 5.30pm … anyway it gave me a chance to watch Shallow Hal and I’ve decided that it’s an official ‘day off’ kind of film.
Yay I have a day off, boo that I have so much to do. What if I didn’t have a day off?!! What would have happened to all the stuff that needs doing?!
On top of all that how convenient that the hot water has just packed up! Good thing I can stay in all day to wait for the engineers.
Gotta luv a day off!
I don’t TELL my members how to rate, I do try to steer them clear of drama but other than make sure the rules of VR are not broken they do pretty much as they please.
I was approached recently by a member of another coven who was ‘down rated’ by a member in my coven, whether or not it was justified is not the issue, no VR rules were broken so I ignored the message. Then this person’s CM messaged me about the incident……..
Let me digress here. There are so many covens nowadays run by young people with different slants on how they see VR. I’m fed up with getting drawn into what is potential ‘drama’ …..
So on receiving their message, I lied! It was wonderful. I really don’t make it a habit of lying but this worked.
I simply explained that as my other account holds a senior position on VR I won’t get involved unless the T.O.S and rules of VR were being challenged. They apologized and left me alone.
Those that know me will chuckle as my second account is just that ‘a second account’ and is so dead it should have been buried ages ago.
I can’t believe the way some members exaggerate things in general in their journal. The sensationalism is … sensational. I understand the reason they do it (most of the time) and I’m normally a good judge of the journals I choose to read but I just got caught out by a long list that I had to evacuate from asap. It left me with not wanting to comment on the journals I really had something to add to.
I’ll try again later .. !

You might understand why they do it but I sure dont.Life is sensational in itself,so why he need to exaggerate.

Good luck next time around.
My daughter and I have an understanding. I reprimand her then ask in a tone ‘’do you understand?’’!
It’s a great understanding!
